Week 12- Presentation update of Major project DES509

Link to Presentation:

This is a presentation of my Major project for week 12, it shows my design progress and explains what else I need to do, to finish.

Design Progress- Testing second logo on products

Design One

Design Two

I really like how the second logo looks on the products, looks more professional. I really like how the logo stands out.

Design Progress- Letter Heads

Design One

Design Two

Design Three

I started to re design the letter heads and try it out with the second logo design, I believe it's looking a lot better and started feel like a physiotherapy company.

Design Progress- Appointment Card (Front)

Design One

Design Two

I wanted the front of the appointment card to be like the business card, keep it all the same theme and style. Only difference from these two designs is whether it should just say appointment card or appointment. I will continue to come up with the final outcome.

Design Progress- Appointment Card

Design One

Design Two

Design Three

Design Four

Design Five

Design Six

I started to design more appointment cards as I want to improve from the last design. I believe with the new logo, its becoming more effective, I think ill stick with the white background to keep it simple.

Design Progress- Front andBack of Business Card

Design One

Design Two

Design Three

Design Four

Design Five (Back of Card)

Design Six (Back of Card)

I really like the typography logo for the front of the business card and having the icon logo on the back of the card, spaces everything out. I was looking at different backgrounds as well, my favourite is design four and design six, I believe they will work well together and standouts nicely. I believe it comes across as physiotherapy company.

Design Progress- Logo (Typography)

Design One

Design Two

Design Three

Design Four

I started to look at typography for a logo for Ian and then have the icon logo on the back of the business card to show different options. Design three and design four are slightly different because I moved the company slightly down more so it had a bit more space between it and Physio. I really am liking design four as I like were it sits on front the business card, it's different.

Design Progress- Logo

Design Three

Design Four

I started to work more on the design of the logo for Ian's company. Using the same icons, I just changed them around a little and made a different shape and made them more together as one icon. I took the "IPC" out as I got feedback that I don't really need it because the name is there. I'm liking were the design process is going and will continue to design more and make more changes to give me options.

Design Progress- Rough Sketches (Business Card)

Business Card Design Layout

Looking at my rough sketches, I started to design for the business card, looking at the layout of the logo on the business card, do I want it in the middle or the bottom left or bottom right, looking at different type of fonts. Im really liking the typography for the front of the business card and then should have the logo at the back with the information.

Design Progress- Rough Sketches

Sketches Logo Designs

Looking at the different shapes of leaves as I wanted the leaf to represent "Healing" for the logo design. I want the leaf design to be simple as it will be apart of the logo.

I started to draw lines to try and get the feel of the spine shape, to help me imagine what it will look like.

I then started to think what shape I can work with to create a spine, first thing came to mind was circles. When I was sketching it out, I could see it working.

I roughly sketched out what I envision, the circles creating the spine shape, trying to get the right movement, seeing the different sizes of circles, seeing what works.

I then started to add the leaf shape to the spine, trying to envision how the circle shape spine and leaf combined. I like were the design is going and will trying creating it on photoshop and see how it looks on screen.

Design Progress- Appointment Card

Design One (Front)

Design One (Back)

Design Two (Back)

I design a appointment card for Ian's future business, to give to clients to remind them there appointment date and time. I wanted to put a pattern on the appointment card to make it look different from the business card. I believe it turned out well.

PRINCIPLES OF ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

Functions of bone and the skeletal system

Bone tissue makes up about 18% of the weight of the human body. The skeletal system performs several basic functions:

  1. Support: The skeleton serves as the structural framework for the body by supporting soft tissues and providing attachment points for the tendons of most skeletal muscles.
  2. Protection: The skeleton protects the most important internal organs from injury. For example, cranial bones protect the brain, vertebrae (backbones) protect the spinal cord, and the rib cage protects the heart and lungs.
  3. Assistance in movement: Most skeletal muscles attach to bones; when they contract, they pull on bones to produce movement.
  4. Mineral homeostasis (storage and release): Bone tissue stores several minerals, especially calcium and phosphorus, which contribute to the strength of bone. Bone tissue stores about 99% of the body’s calcium. On demand, bone releases minerals into the blood to maintain critical mineral balances (homeostasis) and to distribute the minerals to other parts of the body.
  5. Blood cell production: Within certain bones, a connective tissue called red bone marrow produces red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, a process called hemopoiesis. Red bone marrow consists of developing blood cells, adipocytes, fibroblasts, and macrophages within a network of reticular fibres. It is present in developing bones, ribs, breastbone, vertebrae, skull, and ends of the bones of the arm and thigh.
  6. Triglyceride storage: Yellow bone marrow consists mainly of adipose cells, which store triglycerides. The stored triglycerides are potential chemical energy reserve. In a newborn, all bone marrow is red and is involved in hemopoiesis. With increasing age, much of the bone marrow changes from red to yellow.

Joints

Joints are classified structurally, based on their anatomical characteristics, and functionally, based on the type of movement they permit. The structural classification of joints is based on two criteria: (1) The presence or absence of a space between the articulating bones, called a synovial cavity, and (2) The type of connective tissue that binds the bones together. Structurally, joints are classified as one of the following types:

Fibrous Joints: There is no synovial cavity, and the bones are held together by dense irregular connective tissue that is rich in collagen fibers.

Cartilaginous Joints: There is no synovial cavity and the bones are held together by cartilage.

Synovial Joints: The bones forming the joint have a synovial cavity and are united by the dense irregular connective tissue of an articular capsule, and often by accessory ligaments.

The functional classification of joints relates to the degree of movement they permit. Functionally, joints are classified as one of the following types:

Synarthrosis: An immovable joint. The plural is synarthroses.

Amphiarthrosis: A slightly movable joint. The plural is amphiarthroses.

Diarthrosis: A freely movable joint. The plural is a diarthroses. All diarthroses are synovial joints. They have a variety of shapes and permit several different types of movements.

Looking at this gives me the right information I need for Ian's leaflets or posters, to show the right information explaining the joints and bones.

Testing- Ian's logo on products

Testing Ian's logo on a t-shirt

Testing Ian's logo on a water bottle

I'm testing Ian's logo that I design for his company on to products, I wanted to see what it looked like on a t- shirt, I believe it looks good and people that will work in Ian's future business can wear these t- shirts to showcase his company. I also put a logo on to a water bottle as I believe it looks good and Ian could have these water bottles at his business around his gym and pool area, even have them sitting at the reception area to take when you come in for a session.

Research- Physiotherapy Posters

I'm looking at posters to help me design my own poster, I think i'll take my own photos for the posters as I believe it will look good and show what Ian's Physio company will offer.

Research- Physiotherapy Websites

Looking at physiotherapy websites to help me design a website for Ian's future business. I'm thinking of doing one page for the website as I believe one page will show all of Ian's information, if I need more than one page, I will create a menu button then to continue on the next page.

Research- Physiotherapy Leaflets

Looking at the different layouts of leaflets, to see what I like best and to give a idea of what direction I should go to, to start designing a physiotherapy leaflet for Ian's future business. I need to get the right information first before I start designing the leaflet.
